Pirate Ship Docks at Woodland Elementary School

With all the negative news about the home building industry lately you would think the last thing a builder would have time to do is build a playhouse to auction. Not just any playhouse, but a Pirate Ship playhouse.

Bruce Pasquarella of American Eagle Builders, Inc., led a team of HBA and Greenville members in an effort to build a unique playhouse to be auctioned during the Southern Home and Garden Show to benefit the Guardian ad Litem program. Bruce and his staff along with Rob Price of Priceless Construction worked together to build a playhouse that would put Blackbeard’s ship to shame. The structure was complete with a mast and sails, two crossed swords on the stern and a great play area for kids.

Bruce, Rob and their staff worked feverishly around the clock building the Sloop with intentions of donating it to the Guardian ad Litem auction fundraiser. They did donate it but by the end of the auction on the final day of the Southern Home and Garden Show Bruce and Alexis had placed the winning bid of $4400.00 in a bidding duel with a home show patron.

Now, what do you do with a Pirate Ship Playhouse that has to be moved and takes up the entire back-end of a flatbed wrecker? You sure can’t put it in a neighborhood with restrictions such as Bruce’s so where on earth would you dock this wonderful playhouse? Bruce decided to donate the ship to his fiance’s daughter’s school, Woodland Elementary. Teacher Mrs. Baldwin and her first grade “Frogs” are pictured on the Bow of the ship along with Bruce and son Dylan.

Thanks to builders like American Eagle Builders and Priceless Construction, not all building industry news is gloomy. Bruce, Rob and the entire Pirate Ship building team deserve a pat on the back for their generous donation to so many.
